The Home Builders Association of Anderson is dedicated to serving the Anderson community – both professionally and through giving of our time and resources. We have a passion for giving back to the community and, in return, the community has given back to us two-fold. We wouldn’t be the same without the people and businesses that make up Anderson County, and we want to show our support by helping grow the local industry.

HBA Anderson Scholarship Program

HBA of Anderson Scholarship Application 

Deadline: April 30, 2023 

The purpose of the HBA of Anderson Scholarship is to provide for the educational needs of deserving students pursuing an education in the Building and Construction Science industry. HBA of Anderson’s goal for this scholarship is to highlight the commitment and generosity of the buildingindustry and enhance the quality of life for all student residents in AndersonCounty, South Carolina.

The scholarship will be awarded to an individual, nominated by application,who demonstrates academic excellence, financial need and the pursuit of a completed education in the field of the Building and Construction Science industry from a public college or university in the United States.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a graduating high school senior accepted by or currently enrolled in an accredited two-year, junior, technical, or four-year college/university in a program related to the Building and Construction Science industry.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident with a permanent U.S. resident ID card or current passport.
  • Must be a resident or immediate family member of a resident of Anderson County, South Carolina.
  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4-point scale.
  • Applicant must agree to a personal interview with the selection committee upon completion of the application review process.

Scholarship applicants must submit the following items: Letter of application (typed, double-spaced) addressed to the Home Builders Association of Anderson Scholarship Committee stating their intent to apply for the scholarship.

  • Completed application – typed or written legibly. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Letter of acceptance from the institution of higher education signed by the President and the Director of Services of Learning from the institution.
  • Applicant and their parent or legal guardian must sign the completed application form.
  • A copy of their most recent transcript with cumulative grade point average and class rank.
  • A 500-word essay (typed, double-spaced) stating the applicant’s future aspirations in the Building and Construction industry.
  • Four (4) character references in the form of a letter of recommendation. Two (2) from high school teachers, college instructors or college professors.
  • Two (2) from leaders of the community or civic organizations.

Additional Information

Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applications may be mailed, emailed or delivered in person. If mailed, please send by certified mail. If emailed, the original copies must be sent by certified mail and received by the deadline of March 1st. 

Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Home Builders Association of Anderson Scholarship Selection Committee, with final approval by the Board of Directors. 

Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient, in the name of the recipient and the institution of higher education. The scholarship funds may not be used to pay back college loans of any kind. 

The award will be presented directly to the recipient and a representative of the institution of higher education at a Home Builders Association of Anderson event. The recipient and representative will be notified of the presentation schedule and must be present to accept the award (unless in a dire emergency situation).
